Google My Business (now called Google Business Profile) added several powerful new features in 2025 to help businesses engage more customers and manage their presence more easily on Google Search and Maps. Here are the most important updates:

  • Direct Management in Search/Maps: You can now manage your profile directly by searching your business name in Google while logged in. No separate dashboard needed—you can update hours, address, and info right from the search page.
  • AI-Powered Business Descriptions: Google can automatically suggest or even write optimized business descriptions using AI. This boosts your visibility and ensures your business appears for more relevant searches.
  • Verified Messaging & Advanced Chat: Verified messaging lets customers chat with your business through Google Search, Google Maps, or even WhatsApp. Auto-reply options help you respond instantly to common questions or booking requests.
  • Direct Booking & Quote Requests: Customers can now book appointments or request quotes directly from your profile in search results. This feature speeds up the customer journey and can increase conversions.
  • QR Codes for Reviews: Easily generate QR codes that link straight to your review page—print or display them in-store for fast feedback.
  • Video & Photo Verification: You can upload shop videos or photos for faster business verification, making account management more secure and authentic.
  • Streamlined Post Creation & Stories: New tools allow you to create posts, share updates, events, or special offers in a story-style format, much like Instagram Stories, directly from a new centralized hub.
  • Menu & Product Listings: Restaurants can show detailed menus (with prices and photos) directly on their Google profile. Any business can list products and services with descriptions and images for easy browsing by customers.
  • Real-time Analytics & Notifications: The new dashboard gives real-time insights into calls, direction requests, searches, and reviews—so you always know how your profile is performing.
  • Local Inventory Ads: Physical stores can now showcase their in-store product availability with local inventory ads, helping draw more foot traffic.

These updates aim to make local SEO easier, boost engagement, and help small businesses connect with potential customers both online and offline.
